WHAT IS NUTRITION MISSION?

Nutrition Mission™ is primarily an educational campaign designed to provide the public with reliable, professional nutrition information and guidance.

Beth Ellen DiLuglio, MS, RDN, LDN is sole administrator of Nutrition Mission and creator of Nutrition Is Your Best Health Insurance!® educational program. Beth Ellen received her Master of Science in Human Nutrition from Columbia University's College of Physicians & Surgeons Institute of Human Nutrition. While still an undergraduate, Beth Ellen requested that her biochemistry professor at Wheaton College (Norton Massachusetts) develop a nutrition course so that she could study the science of nutrition.  Dr. B. agreed and that began a long journey through nutrition education and application....

Beth Ellen has been a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) since 1987, certified in Nutrition Support (CNSC) 1990-2010, and a Certified Clinical Nutritionist (CCN) 2002-2017. She served as an associate professor of nutrition at Palm Beach State College 1995-2008 where she was nominated twice to "Who's Who Among America's Teachers," an honor bestowed on ~2% of America's teachers.

As part of her Nutrition Mission, Beth Ellen continues to be a provider of professional continuing education. As part of her commitment to education consumers and professionals about the importance of pure air, pure food, and pure water, she co-authored the radiation exposure/electromagnetic hypersensitivity chapter in Dr. Ingrid Kohlstadt's 2012 medical textbook Advancing Medicine with Food and Nutrients, 2nd ed.  Beth Ellen founded Nutrition Mission in 2004 and from there created Nourish Your Skin Naturally®, Chocotritious®, and Nutrition Is Your Best Health Insurance!®   Beth Ellen is licensed to practice in the state of Florida.

There are some very simple keys to

good nutrition and a healthy lifestyle:

5 Steps to a Healthy Being

EAT WHAT GROWS OUT OF THE GROUND

Focus on whole, unprocessed, plant-based foods and include an abundance of fresh vegetables, dark leafy greens, fruits, herbs, spices, nuts, seeds, legumes, whole grains, and even dark chocolate.

Add in healthy fats and clean lean protein for

optimal intake.

Go organic when possible.

HYDRATE

Hydrate…don’t dehydrate!

Drink plenty of purified mineral-rich water

and other healthy beverages.

Alkalize as needed with

extra lime and lemon juice.

Most adults need at least ~ ½ ounce of fluid per pound of body weight (30 mL/kg).

Replace any fluid lost from sweating or other means

BE ACTIVE

Stretch gently morning and night.

Walk briskly at least 30-60 minutes daily.

Enjoy recreational activities whenever possible.

Adopt a structured exercise program that

you’ll be happy to stick with.

RELAX

 Breathe, Play, Sleep

Deep breathing

Spend 5 - 15+ minutes breathing deeply daily.

Plan playtime

Don’t forget the importance of recreation…

play EVERY DAY.

Sleep

Get what you need to feel rested and refreshed,

don’t be afraid to catch cat naps when you can!

SMILE

You know someone will smile back…

Each day try to

Bring Joy, Create Peace, Seek Justice,

Find Truth, Be Love®

and remember,

Nutrition Is Your Best Health Insurance!®

Of course if we could do these things easily, we wouldn’t need Nutrition Mission!

The problem is, we are not taught the importance of plant based foods, most of us live a sedentary lifestyle and avoiding toxins and stress is virtually impossible in the world we live in today.

So, our first part of the mission is to INCREASE our intake of the foods and nutrients that will bring our bodies back into balance, INCREASE our daily activity and LIGHTEN our load of external and internal toxins.

At the same time, we need to DECREASE our intake of processed foods as processing destroys or removes several nutrients and often adds undesirable elements such as partially hydrogenated oils, chemicals and preservatives and post-harvest fumigation.

Increasing our intake of whole plant based foods will automatically INCREASE our intake of fiber, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and phytonutrients (nutrients found exclusively in plant based foods) and DECREASE our risk of disease including cancer, heart disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, high blood pressure and obesity.

We can consume this array of powerhouse nutrients by eating NO FEWER THAN 5 (and preferably 9) servings per day of fruits and vegetables along with ample intake of legumes, whole grains, nuts, and seeds.

REMEMBER, the more you do, the more you can do... and of course, the less you do, the less you can do!!

**** I strongly recommend consuming CERTIFIED ORGANIC if possible, especially animal-based products.  PESTICIDES are potent endocrine disruptors and many are known carcinogens.  When used, only 10% reaches the target organism, the remainder runs off into surface and ground water.  Like most toxins, pesticides "bioaccumulate", that is they build up in the organism consuming them (including us! see PBS special on Secrets of the Chemical Industry).  So, pesticides are found in the highest concentrations in animal based products.  The bigger the animal or fish, or the higher up on the food chain, the more toxins have bioaccumulated.  Look for "certified organic" or USDA organic on the label.
